Collectively, all three of these compounds help the pancreatic beta cells, or the cells that store and release insulin in the body, to function properly. Another added benefit of consuming holy basil leaves is that they can help beat the ill effects of oxidative stress.

Tip: Consume two to three tulsi leaves whole or one tablespoon full of tulsi leaf juice on an empty stomach. This will help lower your blood sugar levels.
